Hi! I'm Sofia
I'm an aerialist and flexibility coach for aerialists who want to achieve flexibility without pain so they can glide into their favorite bendy poses with ease. I started out training flexibility really passively. I stretched everyday in high school and college and though of myself as quite flexible. I didn't know there was a difference between active and passive flexibility at the time. So when I started aerial, I was really confused when I couldn't do certain tricks or when I did certain tricks and would injure myself each time. I didn’t really understand what was wrong until I injured my ankle rock climbing. I couldn’t walk for a few weeks and as a very hyperactive person I needed something to keep myself distracted. I got my CPT (Certified Personal Trainer), started reading all about injury recovery and eventually found the concept of mobility and actually strengthening to gain flexibility. And I was fascinated by this as I was healing my ankle and actually making it more mobile than before. Now I’m super nerdy about it, and will bore you to tears with information if you let me. In the past year I became a Certified Mobility and Strength Training coach and I use it to teach aerialists how to gain flexibility sustainably and responsibly so they can glide into and out of beautiful poses while twirling through the air.
